Celebrate Apprentice Week
Join us at lunch time from Tuesday 10th to Friday 13th February for a unique celebration of our apprentices amazing culinary journey. This is the moment when our apprentices take centre stage and under the watchful eyes of our professional chefs, put the past 18 months of training under the spotlight and serve up the most amazing plates of food.
The apprentices are almost at the end of their time with us, each one having experienced and learnt how to become professional chefs. Their journey started in November 2013 at Cornwall College and they have since completed their VRQ Level 1 in Professional Cookery. They have visited many of our suppliers on sourcing trips, been able to visit London and Italy with the support of amazing sponsors and have worked weekly shifts in the Fifteen Cornwall kitchen, all leading up to this wonderful moment.
“Our apprentices are steadily approaching the end of their time with us, which is a really exciting time. Not only is it a chance for them to show off the skills they have learnt, but it is also time for them to spread their wings and enter into the big wide world.” says Matthew Thomson, Chief Executive of Cornwall Food Foundation & Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall.
Following apprentice week they then only have just over a couple of weeks left in the Fifteen Cornwall kitchen before they all go their separate ways for just over a month in their work placement kitchens. Following this they will graduate from the programme in May and then go on to work as professional chefs in kitchens across the country.
Our apprentice week coincides with the last week of our 3 course £21 Wild Cornwall lunches, click here for a sample menu.
