Cohort 1 graduate Sam Lounds comes up trumps!

After leaving Fifteen Cornwall as one of our very first graduates, Sam Lounds headed to The Arthouse Restaurant in Plymouth’s Barbican. He is now Head Chef and the restaurant has recently won the Food Plymouth Best Restaurant Award for 2012/13.

Located within the Plymouth Arts Centre in Looe Street, the eatery received a number of votes from the public alongside a visit from a “mystery diner” of the Food Plymouth team. Staff behind the Arthouse said they had no idea they had even been entered so were absolutely delighted to hear that not only had they be shortlisted, but they had won the restaurant category. Judges looked at how the restaurant met the ten different criteria of the Plymouth Food Charter which aims to “improve health and wellbeing for all and to create a more connected, resilient and sustainable city”.

Sam was presented with the title at Flavour Fest on Friday August 17th and said, “This is a fantastic award for the whole arthouse team. It’s humbling that as a new restaurant we have already been recognised and put on the map.”

Here at Fifteen Cornwall, we’re exceptionally proud of Sam. It’s proof our apprentice programme works and he is just one of our successful graduates making waves (we’re by the beach, excuse the pun) in the food industry. Well Done Sam!
