Cornish Gypsy Cocktail Recipe

Cornish Gypsy CocktailThe Cornish Gypsy is an elegant cocktail and is best enjoyed as an aperitif or after dinner.  It’s a favourite of James Keast, one of our bar staff, who is remaining faithful to his Cornish roots!

Here Enzo, another of our bar team, shows us how to make this simple, delicious cocktail.

ICornish Gypsy Cocktailngredients:

50ml Gin (we used Tarquins Cornish Gin)

25ml Benedictine Liqueur (Drambuie is a good alternative)

2 drops of orange bitters

Orange or grapefruit peel for garnish

Method:

Chill your chosen glass by filling it with ice, while you prepare the cocktail, we usually serve ours in a martini or coupe glass

Add the Gin, Benedictine and orange bitters into a shaker.

Shake vigorously for 7 seconds.
Remove the ice from the glass and double strain the liquid into the glass.

Cornish Gypsy CocktailCut two thin strips of peel, we use a potato peeler.  Wring one of the pieces over the glass to release the oil from the peel into the glass, then wipe the peel around the rim of the glass.

Trim the edges of the second piece of peel and wrap around a straw to make a spiral of peel.  Place into the glass.

Enjoy!
