Fifteen Feet Up Winner!
Last year we launched our #15FeetUp competition on Instagram. We asked you to show us your favourite views of Cornwall from Fifteen feet above the ground (the height we are above the beach). With over a thousand entries, legendary photographer and friend of Fifteen David Loftus had the hard job of deciding on a winner. His chosen picture (above) was this atmospheric shot taken by Malcolm Brent Colby.
We asked Malcolm to tell us about the shot…
“I captured this special moment between man and the sea while my wife and I were camping in the Lizard, Cornwall. I had my camera out and my eye caught the fisherman and I got so excited at the possibility of catching the fisherman during a slow shutter sunset shot that I ran into position stumbling over rocks on the way. I hope this picture allows the viewer to see the raw beauty of Cornwall and the peace that nature can bring when you step away from the city. “
We also asked David why he chose Malcolm’s picture…
“I think it’s a gorgeous picture and, not only does it answer the brief perfectly, it so sums up the wild spirit of Cornwall, the possibilities to be alone or be in a crowd, the ruggedness, and yet the calmness, and that extraordinary evening light that you only seem to get on the Cornish coast… love it.”
The standard of entries for this competition really was outstanding and we would like to thank everyone who entered. We’d also like to say a special thanks to David Loftus for judging the competition for us.
