Fifteen London Graduation 2009
A few of us from Cornwall recently attended the graduation of Fiteen London’s 2009 apprentices. This was the seventh group of apprentices to graduate from the London restaurant and this year 15 graduated in all….the biggest group so far! The event was held at Christ Church, Spitalfields. It was a lovely venue which the team had decorated with the apprentice portraits taken by our resident photographer Simon Burt. The new group of apprentices were on hand to host the food, and upcoming singer/songwriter Aaron Norton (http://www.arronnorton.co.uk/) played some top tunes as everyone arrived (I even managed a little ‘sing-song’ with him to The Killers Mr Brightside afterwards which brilliant!).
Fifteen CEO Penny Newman hosted the event with the help of Head Chef Andrew Parkinson who spoke of each apprentice’s time in the kitchen and Jamie’s mentor Gennaro Contaldo presented the graduates with their Fifteen dog tags. Sadly Jamie himself could not be at the event due to filming commitments in America but he did record a video message for the young chefs.
It was a really moving event and we were pleased to see that many of the apprentices were going on to full time work in the catering industry. We wish them all the very best of luck in their future careers!
Speak to you all soon.
