Graduate apprentice wins Apprentice of the Year
Cohort 5 apprentice Sarah Francis has recently been awarded Cornwall College Apprentice of the Year! Sarah graduated from Fifteen Cornwall in May 2011 and is over the moon to have won this prestigious award!
We recently caught up with Sarah to hear all about what she’s been doing since leaving the programme. Here’s what she had to say…
“The award was NVQ3 Diploma in Patisserie and confectionery appentice award – and I was apprentice of the year! Since leaving Fifteen, I worked at The St Agnes Hotel as a Junior Sous Chef for a year, before starting work as a baker for St Agnes Bakery. I have also just completed my NVQ3 in Patisserie and confectionery. I was very pleased to win the award, it was not expected, so i am pleased that I am on the right track.”
“Fifteen was an amazing introduction into the world of cooking and I don’t think I’d be where I am today without it.”
Sarah will be helping the Cornwall Foundation of Promise team this year with a small project in conjunction with the Foyer. She’ll be training young people to bake and the cakes will be served to 45 elected members within the Chambers at Cornwall Council. The project has a specific focus on youth homelessness and is very relevent to the Fifteen Cornwall programme.
We think Sarah is one to watch in the future!
