On Friday 23 June our friends from Petrolo Wines in Tuscany will be joining us at Fifteen Cornwall for a special wine tasting at our bar.
Petrolo Tuscan Wine Tasting
We have a very special relationship with Petrolo, as they host us every year on our annual sourcing trip to Tuscany with the apprentices. We always receive the warmest of welcomes when we stay in their idyllic vineyard, where Luca and his family epitomise the essence of Italian generosity and hospitality. Our head sommelier Elly Owen says that Luca has played a huge part in her own journey in wine, as Petrolo embodies the story, emotion and creativity involved in wine making.
Petrolo has become one of Tuscany’s most talked about estates in the past few years. The vibrancy and intensity of the fruit that Luca Sanjust is now getting in his wines, with the assistance of winemaker Simone Cuccoli and consultant Carlo Ferrini, has brought them to the long deserved attention of a wider group of people. Petrolo is situated in the area known as the Chianti Colli Aretini, on the eastern flank of the Chianti hills, an historical area, delimited in 1716 (when it was the Val d’Arno denomination) by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III de’ Medici, as one of Tuscany’s top four wine producing zones.
The property covers 272 hectares, of which 31 are vineyards, situated between 250-450 metres above sea level. The estate is currently in the process of organic conversion, with certification expected for the 2016 vintage. There are 19 hectares of organically grown olive groves and the rest of the estate is comprised of arable land and woods.
This is one of the main reasons we love to collaborate with our wine makers. By inviting them to join us and to pair their wines with the dishes we serve on our menu. We learn about their history, their journey in wine and appreciate the care and attention that goes into creating the wines they produce.
Only 15 tickets are available for this very special event, taking place at our bar on Friday 23 June at 7:30pm. Guests will experience wine tasting with Luca from Petrolo alongside plates of antipasti. Tickets are priced at £45 per person.
Tickets must be pre-booked and paid for in advance.
How to book:
Luca will also be available during the evening to talk dinner guests through their wine packages, specially created for the evening to include Petrolo wines to pair perfectly with our Tasting and Sharing menus.
