A unique Champagne tasting opportunity
Our Head Sommelier, Elly Owen, along with the Fifteen Cornwall Wine Team recently spent a day taste testing with Elly’s wine hero Tom Stevenson, regarded as the world’s leading authority on Champagne.
After their battle of the bubbles taste testing and a small workshop led by Tom, he talked the team through how Champagne aged in a Magnum develops and evolves.
With a larger ratio of wine to air in the bottle but the same sized neck as a standard bottle, Magnums develop more slowly and consistently, offering additional complexity and structure.

It’s our 10th birthday year
The sun was shining for Fifteen Cornwall’s 10th birthday celebrations on May 16 as the chefs, apprentices and graduates gathered on the beach below the landmark restaurant with our founder, celeb chef and campaigner, Jamie Oliver.
Since opening in 2006, the team has served nearly 750,000 meals, trained 180 young apprentice chefs, produced 112 graduates (some of whom have gone on to head up some of the South West’s finest eateries), and generated £30 million of sales with 100 percent of profits going back into the development of young people and local Cornish suppliers.
Not only has its continued support of vulnerable young people and community producers made Fifteen a unique dining destination, but its team of innovative chefs and creative Italian-Cornish fusion menus has secured its status as one of the front runners in the South West’s booming foodie-scene.
Celebrating the big one-zero with over 50 of the restaurant’s graduates at a reunion breakfast on Monday, Jamie Oliver said:
‘It’s hard to believe it’s already been 10 years since I came down to Watergate Bay and started the Fifteen Cornwall restaurant and Apprentice Programme. It’s been one hell of a ride, but it absolutely remains one of the things I’m most proud of. The team have produced chefs, chefs and more chefs, and are still knocking out incredible food day in, day out, year after year. Thank you to everyone in the Fifteen Cornwall team, as well as all our wonderful friends and supporters who’ve helped us along the way.’
The reunion breakfast kicked off the birthday bash, with Jamie also hosting a lunch at the beach-side restaurant for loyal supporters of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall, the apprentice scheme and The Cornwall Food Foundation.

At Fifteen Cornwall in celebration of English Wine week our Head Sommelier, Elly Owen, has arranged to run a special wine package with some of the best wines Cornwall has to offer. Most exciting of all is a privileged first release of Camel Valley Chardonnay 2014 Brut.
