We enjoy building close relationships with our suppliers and often go out on sourcing trips to understand more about the production of the ingredients we use. Last week, staff from the bar team met up with our family from Fifteen London to visit Chase Distillery.
Sourcing trip to Chase Distillery
William Chase grew up in Herefordshire and was a potato farmer for 20 years before deciding he needed to diversify but yet continue to farm potatoes. In 2002 after travelling the world for inspiration, he decided to make potato chips and produced them under the luxury Tyrells brand. As Tyrells grew, he decided to look for the next step and while searching for packaging in the USA, he came across a small distillery making potato vodka and thought it would be a fun way to make a living.
Chase Distillery was born in 2008. They are the first single-estate distillery meaning that they use a field to bottle approach, with every stage of the process taking place on the farm; from growing the potatoes, to hand bottling and corking the finished product. The vodka is distilled 119 times before being tempered with spring water from the farms own bore well; and in 2010 they were awarded the World’s Best Spirit.
Our bar team are big fans of Chase Vodka, it is our house pour and can be enjoyed neat over ice or in a cocktail. We use their Marmalade Vodka in our Marmalade Cosmo and the Elderflower Liqueur in a champagne cocktail. The bar team are currently experimenting with our spring and summer cocktail selection, so you can expect to see some new concoctions using a range of Chase products.
