St. Piran’s Gin and Tonics
2013 saw the launch of two distinctly different but equally delicious Cornish gins. Both Elemental from St. Coloumb Major and Tarquin’s from Wadebridge are now firm favourites on our bar list. To celebrate St. Pirans Day we are drinking each Cornish gin with our Head Barman Josh’s favourite tonics to complement.
Elemental with Fifteen tonic and loads of fresh lime:
Our classic tonic syrup recipe has changed and evolved over the years, the recipe now includes wormwood which perfectly complements the peppery spice in Elemental. We serve it with loads of fresh lime to work with the grassiness freshness of Elemental’s gin.
Tarquin’s Gin- Thyme at the Bar Tamara:
Named after Tarquin’s beautiful copper pot still, this cocktail is a pimped up version of a gin and tonic. Our Head Barman Josh developed our thyme tonic syrup especially for this drink to compilent the citrusy notes in Tarquin’s Gin. Josh’s thyme tonic is made with a zingy blend of cinchona bark, juniper, pink grapefruit zest, Amalfi lemon zest, lime zest, orange zest and of course lots of aromatic fresh thyme! To make Thyme at the Bar Tamara we combine Tarquin’s gin, thyme tonic syrup, fresh lime juice, a dash of soda and finish with a spring of thyme.
Join us at the bar today and toast to St. Piran in true Cornish Style!
