The Final Straw

We love our location on the beach at Watergate Bay and we care deeply about protecting our beautiful environment and the wildlife that lives in and around our shores.

Sustainability has always been an important part of our ethos at Fifteen Cornwall and we aim to do whatever we can to minimise our impact on the environment, reduce waste and ensure that we maintain the beauty of the Bay for generations to come.

Anyone who has been watching the recent BBC series Blue Planet 2, would have seen the devastating impact that plastic is having on sea life on a global scale. With this in mind, we have recently joined the The Final Straw Campaign and have pledged to stop using plastic drinking straws in the restaurant.

Straws are an example of an unnecessary single use plastic item which is used for a very short period of time and then discarded. We appreciate that some people prefer to use straws in their drinks and have sourced biodegradable paper alternatives for our customers and washable metal straws for our bar team to test their cocktails.

Whilst this is only a small measure, it’s a definitely a step in the right direction and we hope that lots of other businesses will join the campaign.
