Our Head Sommelier, Gordy loves the savoury style of reds from the Northern Rhone, on our list the David Reynaud Crozes Hermitage is full of black olive and meaty salami notes making it perfect for robust meaty stews and roasts. Wines like this can also have real finesse and elegance as they are from the Northern limits of where Syrah will ripen this helps the grapes maintain some bracing acidity, producing wines with fine definition.
Another great red inspired by the grapes of the Rhone is John Duval’s Plexus. John Duval was head winemaker at Penfolds for 20 years and for 18 he was the man behind the iconic Grange. He is now on his own making a range of wines that we particularly admire and over the winter months we have chosen to serve his offering on a Southern Rhone style, Plexus by the glass.
If you like the sound of these wines or have enjoyed a drop with us at the restaurant we would love you to vote for us in Food Magazines Reader Awards in the ‘Best Wine List’ category that we have excitingly been nominated for!
